ReadWhat is County of Fortune?
County of Fortune is a medieval strategy and city-building game from Czech developer Nepos Games, published by Aquila Interactive. Instead of placing individual houses inside one town, you found whole settlements across a wide map, set their direction and watch streets and buildings fill in as they grow.
You play as a lokator, a medieval colonizer and noble steward. Rivers decide what can be moved, soil and elevation decide what can be grown, and resource deposits decide which settlements become workshops, quarries or trade hubs. The result is a regional economy rather than a single market square.
As the county matures, named mayors take charge of settlements, rival noble houses compete for influence and migrant cultures bring production bonuses and tensions. The Assembly turns that influence into regional privileges, while cultures reward you for building around what a region actually produces.
If you are new, read the beginner guide first. If you are deciding whether to buy, the review and release date page cover the launch and what Early Access includes.

Start with the in-game tutorial, then use our beginner guide to build a small, self-sufficient region. The safest opening is a cluster of connected settlements that can supply food, wooden chests or wool tunics, and carpentry points before you expand.
Yes. The demo is free on Steam, covers the core settlement, production, trade and mayor systems, and its progress carries into Early Access. It is the best way to learn the interface before the November 5 launch.
The unit of play is a county, not a single town. You found multiple settlements, specialise them around terrain and resources, connect them with roads and rivers, and then manage named mayors, rival noble houses and migrant cultures across the region.
The store description and demo focus on settlement building, production, trade and political competition between noble houses. No military combat system has been announced for the Early Access launch.
Steam currently lists Windows and Linux / SteamOS support, but not macOS. There is no announced Mac version or console release; the confirmed platform is PC via Steam.
Every page was reviewed on 30 October 2026 against the public demo, the Steam store page and official developer posts. Systems can change during Early Access, so pages show an updated date and are revised when the game changes.
